Personally, I have been using Lactoferrin for the past five years and I rarely if ever have experience a cold or flu that sends me to bed.
I attribute this fortune to a multitude of reasons. I live the life I preach. My diet, exercise, stress management and sleep regimens are good and you all know them and hopefully follow them by now. But as usual, there is always another piece in the puzzle of perpetual improvement.
In addition to the above, I also take Lactoferrin at the first sign of a cold or flu. If I start getting a scratchy throat, muscle aches, the crummy feeling we all know to be the sign of a cold coming on, I immediately start taking Lactoferrin. I take 2 capsules three times a day for 5 days.
I have been recommending Lactoferrin to the patients I see in my office for years. I have yet to have a person tell me Lactoferrin is short of magical; so by popular demand I have now added Lactoferrin to our online store.
Before I suggest you all get Lactoferrin and carry it with you at all times, I want to tell you the medical information I have about it. I will use limited medical jargon, but I have to give you the facts and they do include medical information.
Lactoferrin is a protein. It is derived from whey and it belongs to a family of proteins called glycoproteins. Lactoferrin is specifically involved with iron transport in the gut and all the secretions our bodies contain it (like saliva, tears, and breast milk). Lactoferrin in animal and in vitro studies has shown anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and immunomodulatory activity.
That means it helps our bodies fight infections.
There are no side-effects reported with Lactoferrin and it has been around for more than 10 years.
The reason I found Lactoferrin and recommend it instead of ecchinacea or medical antivirals ( like Tamiflu), is that Lactoferrin is a bioidentical substance similar in molecular formulation to our own body’s own. Because it is bioidentical, chances are we will not have adverse reactions to Lactoferrin and its action will just complement our body’s immune reaction.
Finally, try it the next time you feel a cold coming on and include Lactoferrin in your wellness preservation arsenal! You can find it on my store by clicking here (Please excuse the shameless promotion)

Deirdre:
Water is good, but don't over do it. Everything in balance works.
If you drink too much and get bloated, slow down. Water does flush out lots of toxins.
Do not take Lactoferrin every day. It will diminish your immune response to viruses or flus. Only use Lactoferrin for 5 days at a time when you are coming down with a cold or flu.

Hi! I have read that water is supposed to flush out the salt. Is it really true that too much water can bloat you? I don't think I drink 'too much' - but I am reading this for the first time here (and I do believe you!)
Can you take lactoferrin every day, even when you are not sick? Also, can it fight allergies? thank you

Dear Kak:
I will be gentle with you. Drinking lots of water is wonderful, if your hormones are in balance and your body does not hold on to water. If you are close to your period or things are just a bit off(like your diet has too much salt), drinking all that water will bloat you. My advice, MODERATION! It works and you feel better too. Lactoferrin is just another tool in our armamentarium of staying healthy.

This is my first time for a comment so be gentle with me. As a flight attendant I do come in contact with few hundred poeple a day, I've been flying for 10 yrs. and only had the flu 3 times. I never took Lactoferrin but how ever I drink a lot of water and use green tea plus(liquid form)I put a few drops in my water, I drink about 60oz. a day little over half of my weight, according to Dr. Don Colbert MD.(I have his book)you should drink water half of your weight in oz. I know that you have to urinate a lot, but think about it every time you urinate you are flushing out the toxin. Just remember every time you breath, eat, drink and touch it becomes part of you, so you need to flush your system just like when you flush the toilet, bye bye toxin!!!And stay balanced.
